Danforth and Victoria Park: a counter or two, and the subway
Oakridge has a storefront lender or two on Danforth Avenue near Victoria Park, among the small shops and plazas that line Danforth, and that is the extent of the local strip; the streets up Danforth Road and Pharmacy toward St. Clair are houses, low rise rentals and a few towers, not counters. For most of the neighbourhood the Danforth corner is a walk or a short bus ride.
Victoria Park station on Line 2 is right there, and Danforth GO on the Lakeshore East line is close, which is why so many residents work downtown or in the Beach. Neither station is a lender stop. The online application takes about five minutes on the phone, reads income through IBV and pays by e-transfer at any hour, including the hours after a hospitality shift ends. The e-transfer loans page covers the timing.
The Danforth counter charges the same $14 per $100 as a website or a counter on Kingston Road. Being on the border with Toronto proper changes nothing about the price or the law.
Downtown office, hospitality and TTC shift pay
Oakridge residents mostly work west of Victoria Park, in downtown offices on biweekly or semi-monthly salary, in Beach and east end restaurants and bars on biweekly pay with tips, and on TTC shifts paid biweekly, so a payday loan here has a term of up to 14 or 16 days and is sized to half of one of those deposits.
The three pay types read differently through IBV. Office and TTC pay is steady and easy to size against. Hospitality pay swings with the season and the schedule, and tips paid in cash never reach the account, so the loan is sized to the deposited wage alone. A server with a slow month should borrow against the slow deposit. The cash advance page lays out the term for each cycle.
The housing is older homes, low rise rentals and a few towers along Danforth. Renters here borrow for the week before rent; owners with older houses tend to face bills larger than a payday loan should carry.

What payday loans Oakridge lenders charge
A payday loan in Oakridge costs $14 per $100 borrowed, so $300 is repaid as $342 and $500 as $570, and the cap is provincial, so the Danforth counter, a website and a lender across Victoria Park in Toronto proper all charge exactly the same.
| Amount borrowed | Fee at $14 per $100 | Total repayable |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | $14 | $114 |
| $300 | $42 | $342 |
| $500 | $70 | $570 |
| $1000 | $140 | $1140 |
| $1500 | $210 | $1710 |
A semi-monthly office worker gets up to 16 days for the same fee a weekly worker pays for 7. The cost guide works every amount in $100 steps and explains the 365% APR figure.
When a payday loan fits in Oakridge and when it does not
A payday loan fits an Oakridge commuter or server with a one time gap under half a cheque: a slow week of tips, a Presto pass and a phone bill landing before rent, a short cheque after unpaid days. It does not fit a bill over $1500, an old house's furnace or roof, or a slow season that runs for months.
The house bills belong on the installment loans page, $500 to $10000 repaid monthly at 18% to 35% APR. A slow season is a budget question, and the alternatives guide puts an employer advance, an overdraft arrangement and a credit union small loan ahead of a fee every two weeks.
East along Kingston Road, Birch Cliff and Cliffside has a few counters near Warden and Midland and the same westward commute; north on Eglinton, Clairlea and Golden Mile has the Eglinton plazas and Warden station.

The rules that protect an Oakridge borrower
Every counter on Danforth and every online lender serving an Oakridge address is licensed under the Payday Loans Act, 2008, which gives you two business days to cancel at no cost, bans rollovers and a second loan while one is open, and requires an extended payment plan on a third loan within 63 days. Complaints go to Consumer Protection Ontario. The Ontario rules guide explains each protection.
Payday Loans Scarborough is a free loan connection service, not a lender. The application steps are on the main Scarborough page, and the neighbourhoods east along Danforth Road and Kingston Road are on the areas we serve hub.

Is there a storefront lender at Victoria Park station?
Not in the station. A counter or two sits on Danforth Avenue near Victoria Park among the shops, a short walk from the station entrance. Every one must show an Ontario licence for that location.
I work in the Beach. Does borrowing from a Toronto lender differ from a Scarborough one?
No. Scarborough is part of Toronto and both sit under Ontario's Payday Loans Act, 2008. The $14 per $100 cap, the cancellation right and the rollover ban apply on both sides of Victoria Park.
I drive for the TTC on rotating shifts. Which cheque is the loan sized to?
The biweekly deposits IBV reads, including any overtime in them. Size the loan to a cheque without overtime so a quiet fortnight does not leave the debit short.
Can I get funded after a bar shift ends at 2 a.m.?
Not at that hour. An application finished at 2 a.m. funds when the lender opens that business morning, usually before noon, by e-transfer. Finishing the IBV step overnight is what keeps the morning short.
